I was prepared during an emergency because I had the mindset that mental preparedness is just as critical as physical preparedness. Preparing myself to react in case of an emergency helped me to process my actions when faced with critical decisions and prevent "the stall", the area of thought when your mind stops processing and reacting to changing circumstances.

My goal for State of Ready with each business is to make sure that not just the business is prepared, but that it's people are too. A business can't survive without its people and a community can't recover without its citizens prepared and able to respond. This whole community approach is what I want to bring to the table.

Why am I working at State of Ready? The past decade has shown that disasters, both man-made and natural, are not going to let up and research suggests they will become more intense, deadly, and more expensive. I want to take my experience and abilities to where it can do the most good and the opportunity that State of Ready presents to make that happen is why I am working here.
